Zoe Willows
Let's start by talking about God's Bounty. It’s, like, this amazing food pantry initiative that’s all about helping local families, right?
Samuel Rivers
Exactly, Zoe. They’re focusing on collecting canned fruits this month, which makes such a difference for families who rely on the pantry. And, through the Meijer Simply Give campaign, every donation gets matched. It’s honestly such a beautiful way to extend our impact.
Zoe Willows
Hold up. So, if you donate, by purchasing a Simply Give card at Meijer, it actually supports God's Bounty?
Samuel Rivers
That’s right. Meijer matches donations dollar for dollar and on the double match day, that makes an even bigger impact to the resources for the pantry. It’s a way for everyone to give a little and help a whole lot.
Zoe Willows
That is so cool. Okay, folks, if you’re listening to this while shopping—go grab your canned pineapple or peaches. Seriously. Do it now.
Samuel Rivers
Zoe, Let's talk about some of the other weekly events happening at NBBC.
Zoe Willows
Oh my gosh, okay, we need to talk about the book club. Every Wednesday. On Zoom. Can we take a second to talk about how Janie Bryant is the MVP of leading this? Like, can we just give her a round of applause—or, you know, praise hands emoji?
Samuel Rivers
Praise hands, indeed. And they’re diving into Richard Rohr's "Falling Upward." That's a deep one—perfect for spiritual growth.
Zoe Willows
Totally. Though I might need cliff notes for that one. But okay, the Euchre Club sounds wild. Games, snacks, and, like, general mischief—what’s not to love?
Samuel Rivers
Mischief, Zoe?
Zoe Willows
I mean, competitive card games bring out some strong personalities. You can’t tell me otherwise!
Samuel Rivers
Fair point. But really, it’s one of those great ways for people to connect and share life together. Whether it’s cards, books, or even yoga, NBBC makes sure there’s something for everyone.
Zoe Willows
Speaking of great ways to bring people together, Samuel, can we talk about Easter for a sec? Because NBBC has outdone themselves—Easter Egg hunt this weekend! I can already hear the kiddos giggling and running around.
Samuel Rivers
Absolutely, Zoe. It’s happening on April 19 at 10 a.m., and it's one of the highlights of the year. Kids of all ages running around, finding those hidden treasures—it’s such a simple, joyous moment. And, you know, it’s about more than just the eggs. It’s about—
Zoe Willows
Community, right? Like, families coming together, making memories, probably taking way too many pictures. I mean, you gotta Instagram those moments!
Samuel Rivers
True. But it’s also about celebrating traditions that bring us closer, not just to each other, but to our faith. I think there’s something beautiful about how these lighthearted moments can deepen relationships—not only within families but within the church community, too.
Zoe Willows
Awww, I love that! And okay, after all that egg-hunting fun, there’s coffee and fellowship Sunday morning, right? Leading into the big Easter service?
Samuel Rivers
That’s right. Coffee hour starts at 9:30, giving everyone time to connect before the 10:30 service. Pastor Dianna will be diving into John 20:1-18—it’s the resurrection story, Zoe.
Zoe Willows
Oh wow. Okay, heavy stuff, but in, like, a really hopeful kind of way. What’s your take on it?
Samuel Rivers
Well, for me, it’s a reminder of renewal. You know, the resurrection signifies not just life overcoming death, but hope overcoming despair. I think it speaks to all of us, no matter where we are in life. That renewal, that chance to begin again, is such a powerful message for Easter.
Zoe Willows
It really is. And speaking of spreading hope, can we talk about what the mission team is doing for Adam’s Elementary? Because, honestly, I need some of those snacks they’re collecting. Coffee drinks, chocolate—where do I sign up?
Samuel Rivers
It’s amazing, isn’t it? They’re collecting donations to put together gift packages for the teachers and staff. Everything—from bottled drinks like tea or coffee to chocolate and even snack cakes—will be delivered on April 30 as a way to thank them for their hard work.
Zoe Willows
Teachers totally deserve it. Like, every single snack. They do so much for, well, everyone. I mean, what’s the response been like?
Samuel Rivers
Oh, there's so much enthusiasm. People are excited to contribute, and it’s really brought the congregation together. It's a small way to show gratitude, but it carries such a big meaning. Plus, it fits perfectly with the spirit of Easter—giving, celebrating, and showing love to others.
Zoe Willows
Totally. Love that so much. Alright, everyone, if you’re listening, get those donations in before the 20th. And don’t forget to label it for the mission team—you wouldn’t want your chocolate accidentally ending up in the wrong hands, right?
Zoe Willows
Alright, Samuel, with all the excitement of Easter behind us, let’s dive into what’s next. May is absolutely stacked with stuff at NBBC—like, we’ve got options. First up, the blood drive. I mean, who doesn’t love an opportunity to save lives and then celebrate with carbs? It’s genius.
Samuel Rivers
It really is. On May 3, from 8 a.m. to noon, folks can come to the church and donate blood with Versiti. And right there in the fellowship hall, they’re hosting a breakfast. Who can resist biscuits and gravy after doing something so meaningful?
Zoe Willows
And coffee. Coffee is the real MVP here. People are, like, ten times nicer after their first cup of the day. It’s practically science.
Samuel Rivers
I’m not sure that’s proven, but I’ll admit, coffee does bring people together. And the blood drive itself is such an incredible way to bless the community. One donation can save up to three lives, Zoe. Three.
Zoe Willows
Whoa. Okay, everyone listening—mark May 3 on your calendar. Be a hero. And also, eat some breakfast. Moving on—what’s the deal with the Ladies Banquet? Because it sounds like a total party.
Samuel Rivers
It is! The Annual Ladies Banquet is on May 10, and it’s always such a special time. It’s about celebrating women, creating fellowship, and just having a joyful day together. Ruth Ann Mills is organizing it, so you know it’s gonna be good.
Zoe Willows
She’s got skills. Honestly, though, I love how it’s a mix of, like, heartfelt moments and just good old-fashioned fun. I mean, what’s better than that?
Samuel Rivers
Not much, Zoe. It’s truly one of those events that brings people together in a meaningful way. And speaking of meaningful, we’ve got to talk about the movie night on May 17.
Zoe Willows
Yes! Okay, they’re showing "The Forge." I looked it up, and it’s about this guy, Isaiah, trying to figure out his life after high school. Like, no pressure, right?
Samuel Rivers
Exactly. It’s a Christian drama, very heartfelt, with themes about making good choices, finding your path, and leaning into faith during uncertain times. The movie starts at 7 p.m., and it’s a great chance to bring the whole family together for an inspiring story.
Zoe Willows
And probably popcorn. Let’s not forget the snacks. I feel like NBBC does snacks exceptionally well.
Samuel Rivers
That’s true. But more than that, it’s the way these events foster connection. Whether it’s a blood drive, a banquet, or a movie night, they’re all about building relationships and creating moments to grow together.
Zoe Willows
Totally. And I mean, that’s kind of the heartbeat of NBBC, right? Community, compassion, and, like, a whole lot of love.
Samuel Rivers
Beautifully said, Zoe. And with that, I think we’ve given everyone plenty to put on their calendars for May.
Zoe Willows
For sure. You guys, it’s been a blast sharing all the amazing things coming up at NBBC. Honestly, if you can make it to even one of these events, you’re in for something special.
Samuel Rivers
And on that note, thank you for joining us today. We’ll catch you next time on "What’s Up NBBC."
Zoe Willows
Bye, everyone!
